There seems to be an awful lot of details involved in producing and manufacturing a CD. The most significant part of the project, of course, is the recording process. After more than six months of rehearsals, we began recording last September. It took several months of sporadic sessions - compromised by life events, personal schedules, lulls in financing, and my propensity to keep writing new material - but we finally wrapped it up last month. Then there were a few weeks of mixing and mastering, and the recording was complete. The master sits upon a shelf now just to my left...
Then there's the packaging.
I have no real talent for visual art. Somehow, my brother turned out to be the artist... it seems unfair, since he's also one helluva percussionist, but it was a no-brainer to engage his skills for decorating the album. We have a cool piece for the back cover, which I'll share sometime soon, and the log he designed that you can see just above. It's just the rough sketch at this point... he'll be adding some color to spiff it up. Then it will be set free to decorate tee-shirts, stickers, keychains, beer glasses, lunchboxes, water towers... whatever sounds good at the time. *grins*
But that's where we're at... There's just a little bit of are work yet to be done. I've submitted most of the paperwork to the manufacturer, and I've collected the money for the first pressing... if you preordered a CD, by the way, that's where the money's going. Thank you, thank you, and thank you some more... I'm going to keep the preorder going for awhile, since I know at least a few people who have told me they wish to purchase it and simply haven't gotten to it yet. If you want an autographed copy for just $10 (plus $2.50 shipping), you can purchase it on the main page.
If you'd prefer to wait for the discs, that's cool. You'll be able to buy them at our shows this summer, and we'll be selling them online... it will also be available as a download from Amazon or I-Tunes. I'll publish the details once all the contracts are signed and the discs go to press... which, barring any new surprises, will happen in the next week or two. Thanks for keepin' tabs on us.. and if you like the art, be sure to give Brendo a hard time!
Cheers!
