It's been a long time comin', my friends... If you've followed us since the beginning - or if you've ever done something like this yourself - you might have some idea how we feel. We aren't professionals, folks... at least, not in the conventional sense. The closest any of us gets to makin' a living in the music world is rockin' the bar on a Saturday night... If we were, maybe this would be old hat by now. Maybe it'd be just another day... But it's not. It's like wakin' up from a really good dream to see that the best parts were all real...
The image above is the actual album cover... an inspired photograph of a landmark that will be instantly recognizable to any Wichitan who has ever cruised downtown. My brother had the idea one night as we were headin' to dinner, so we stopped so he could shoot a couple dozen pictures of the locomotive. I think it's a great cover... something about the accessibility of something so rich with history, an icon of industrialization in the heart of the heartland... In many ways, it represents both the progress of civilization and the iron roots of the working man. And in the hearts of those of us who strive every day to beat the system, to scrape a living from an increasingly uncaring world and bring tiny moments of joy ore peace to our friends and our family, you can always find the blues alive and well, no matter the color of your skin.
And of course, the locomotive is a symbol of strength, power, and forward mobility. Whether separately or together, my colleagues and I have spent years layin' the tracks, one rail at a time, with blood, sweat, and plenty of tears... and we are finally gettin' this train a-rollin'.
In the Nielsen database, I entered a release date of June 15, 2011, and I think I can make that happen. I'll keep ya informed in all the usual places, but be sure to keep checkin' in. We'll make the disc available directly from the website, of course, but you'll also be able to download it directly from I-Tunes, Amazon, and a number of other great online retailers. We'll make some other merchandise available, too, featuring the band's logo and some of Brendo's other fantastic artwork. And we'll be playin' out, of course... you come find us, and we'll see about offerin' ya a good deal on a CD.
I'm gonna keep preorders available until I get the discs in hand, probably around the 10th of the month. So if you want an autographed copy at a really great price, be sure to take advantage of the offer on the main page.
All aboard, friends! Wherever this locomotive is takin' us, it oughtta be one hell of a good ride...!
