The past two weeks have yielded exciting developments for the band both in the studio and on the web! Last Saturday, I had the opportunity to spend a few short hours in the studio with some extraordinarily talented folk throwing down tracks on my album with instruments I typically don't get to see up close... We had a gentleman named Andy Horner on trumpet and fluglehorn, Kevin Moore on sax, and our very own Dave Probst blowin' the trombone. It was a truly enjoyable experience...
Through the power of Facebook and some small amount of local networking, the brass section was gathered to lay down tracks on our swing tune, a sassy post-war era U.S.O. show soundin' upbeat number entitled Fallin' for You. After we wrapped on the brass, Bonnie came in and did her usual bang-up job on a shiny new vocal track. The song is basically one guitar solo away from completion, and I can't wait to share it.
I did some lead work in the morning before the brass arrived, then we focused on vocals well into the evening. As I said, it was a very productive day... and Drew hung out and captured most of it on video. I'll put a vlog together as soon as I can and post it to the YouTube channel. If you haven't checked out our other vlogs, you should... together, they comprise an interesting portrait of the band as we prepare to hit the studio - and then actually hit the studio - in an effort to get the music down for everyone to enjoy. They also provide a little insight into our sound, as every bit of music you hear in the vlogs is part of our repertiore.
Here on the website, I've updated the Bio section to include details on the entire band. I'll be adding bios for the horn players as soon as they get them to me... I want everyone to be recognized for the fine musicians they are. I have also added a Guestbook and started a mailing list, which you can join by sending your name and e-mail address to bluesfan@tuesdayniteblues.com. And there's more to come!
We're gettin' ready to head back into the studio next Sunday, February 20th... we're gonna focus on some guitar and keys, some sax on one of my newer tunes, and maybe some final percussion. We're all really excited at the pace and ready to get this album done! I've also got some special developments in the works... like an exciting guest musician and quite possibly an announcement for our first live show of 2011! Stay tuned...!
